our story

the founders (and sisters) Anna and Rhian, don’t agree on everything. but what they do share is their love for travel and that holiday feeling. together, they created marché des perles, making laid-back beach jewellery to wear in their modern lives. each piece is carefully hand crafted here in London, ensuring that no two pieces are the same.

growing up, summers were largely spent in Pembrokeshire, South Wales, their mother’s homeland. trips abroad included exploring Greek Islands and driving through Europe to get to Italy for October half terms. lots of Fleetwood Mac, UB40, Billy Joel and Chuck Berry on the car rides… and though they’ve shared many travel experiences together, they’ve been lucky enough to have some brilliant solo trips.

Anna likes her holidays to be luxurious and calm. she wants big, comfortable beds, easy access to the sea and never too far from the nearest beach bar for a sunset gin & tonic. she loves to try different foods, finding the tastiest restaurants and sourcing souvenirs to bring her holidays back home. her favourite experiences have included exploring food markets in Colombia, finding boutique hotels in Oman and her teenage visits to the South West of France.

Rhian likes her holidays to be adventurous. she wants to be engulfed in other cultures, see the wildlife and if possible, attempt surfing at the local beach. she loves to try the food from the nearest stall, bargaining for a one-off souvenir and travelling on the local transport. her favourite experiences have been volunteering in Southern Africa, surfing in Sri Lanka and backpacking around Europe for a summer.
